White Water Kayaking in the Garden Route
The Garden Route has the ideal locations to launch and explore coastlines from the sea providing unique and spectacular photo opportunities. Being one of the most expensive and exquisite places to live South Africa, surrounded by mountains and indigenous fynbos, it is magnificent to soak up the view and rest before returning to shore.
The bird life on the rocks are prolific. View various species of Cormorants nesting, while seagulls and albatross fly overhead. The African penguin is a common sight even though they are not always brave enough to say hello. Seals and dolphins inspect the kayaks regularly and sometime accompany a group of paddlers an enchanting experience. Southern Right, Bryde’s and Humpback whales are seen during whale season, normally July to December.

Heading out into the waters of Hermanus!
Interested in gliding across sparkling water while marvelling at the majestic sea cliffs and sea life? Then explore the magic of this unique coastline, including Walker Bay Whale Sanctuary, in the company of an experienced guide. From June to December the area becomes a Whale sanctuary but we hold an exclusive permit which allows us to paddle within it. Besides the Southern Right Whales (June to December) we have sightings of Bryde’s whales, dolphins, seals, penguins and the occasional illusive otter. Whatever time of year, this is an experience not to be missed.
Seeing the playful face and inquisitive whiskers of a seal; hearing the friendly sound of frolicking dolphins; feeling your heartbeat when a whale breaches close by – that’s what sea kayaking is all about.
This is my new favourite sport! Thank you Roche for teaching us how to Kayak and guiding our tour!
I can recommend this trip to anyone! Great views![/cq_vc_testimonialcarousel]
